Ghost Mannequin
The ghost mannequin (or invisible mannequin) effect shows a garment with the full three-dimensional shape of a body while the mannequin itself is removed.
Also called: invisible mannequin, hollow man photography, ghost mannequin effect.
A ghost mannequin photo, also called an invisible mannequin or hollow man shot, presents a garment as if worn by an invisible person: collar open, sleeves filled, drape natural, but with no model or mannequin visible. It shows fit and shape without the distraction of a face or body, which is why it is a standard hero format on marketplaces like Zalando, Amazon, and ASOS.
Traditionally the effect required a physical shoot from multiple angles plus manual compositing in Photoshop, where an editor reconstructs the neckline and inner label and blends the parts together. AI tools collapse that into a single step from one raw garment photo.
